Job description
The Chief Economic Adviser is the principal economic voice to senior leadership. You will lead a multidisciplinary team , integrate diverse streams of analysis into clear, decision-ready recommendations, and serve as the institution's most senior authority on economic strategy, policy, and risk.

You will set the analytical agenda, build a culture of rigor and independence, and ensure that on every consequential economic question, leadership is served with a single, coherent, well-reasoned view. The role demands both intellectual depth and the gravitas to advise, and challenge decision-makers at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Advice & Leadership
• Serve as the principal economic adviser to senior leadership, translating complex, multi-source analysis into a single, coherent set of recommendations.
• Set the analytical agenda: identify the economic questions that matter most and direct the unit's resources accordingly.
• Synthesize fiscal, monetary, investment, infrastructure, and diversification analysis into integrated strategic advice.
Team & Institution-Building
• Lead, mentor, and align the team, ensuring rigor, independence, and timeliness across all outputs.
• Build and sustain a high-performance culture and attract top economic talent to the unit.
• Establish standards, processes, and quality controls for the unit's analytical work.
Representation & Convening
• Represent the unit in high-level forums and with external counterparts.
• Convene and direct the expert-adviser network on major economic decisions.
• Safeguard the credibility and intellectual independence of the unit's work at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a closely related field.
• 15+ years of senior experience in economic policy, advisory, central banking, international financial institutions, or equivalent leadership roles.
• Demonstrated track record of advising decision-makers at the highest level.
• Deep command of macroeconomics, public finance, and development economics, with proven cross-sector judgement.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and building or reforming institutions is a strong advantage.
